Just one question, how else am I going to learn Japanese when I have no ties/links to japan other than anime and the Internet, I tried learning from the internet before but found it hard to concentrate, any suggestions.
(your answer can help with my concentration if it’s easier)

Osaka for sure. I used to hate being half japanese because my grandparents were ashamed of he whole wwII thing (so i just learned to hate my asian side pretty much haha) and i was pissed that i had to go to japan. I arrived at osaka and instantly fell in love. all of the hate i had for myself was just…gone. weirdest thing :p However, our tour guides were from tokyo and kept telling us “crime!” too much crime (they basically locked us in our hotel room lol) but when i did get to look around…wow i cant even tell you how much i felt at home there. Loved kyoto as well, but by the time we got to tokyo, i was severely disappointed. It was just like every other major city. If it werent for all the asians and kanji, i wouldve thought i was in NYC. Meh. it didnt do anything for me, so my japan trip ended on somewhat of a bad note. Anyways, ill be going again this summer, but theyre not even taking us to osaka. it’s lead by americans so i guess they just assumed it was a filthy,crime-ridden place -.- oh well. someday, ill be living there:)

I’m in Toronto (in Canada) and I’m travelling to Australia to visit my parents in a few weeks, and I’m stopping in Yokyo Japan for 3 nights. I’m a little nervous about it, never been before, and I’ve been trying to learn important words and phrases so as to repect the locals. I’ve got a ton of questions, but since I just saw that Kevin enjoys karaoke in Japan. I enjoy karaoke as well, and wanted to do some karaoke in Tokyo, but I’m on my own. I know that there are a lot of places that have private rooms, but could you recommend what to do if you’re on your own?

I was watching an episode of Witch Hunter Robin called “Simple Mind” and the character Yurika Dojima makes a gesture like: hand open with palm up in front of her face and her tongue stuck out–the motion she made reminded me of a dog lapping up water. She did this after she discovered she and Robin had been fooled or “blind” to the truth. What does this mean?

So i am about to finish my degree. Want to move to Japan. Saving money for when I leave in 12 months time and i’ll be doing a TEFL course before I leave. I’ve always wanted to live in Tokyo so for that reason I’m not going to go through JET as I know It’s highly likely I’ll not get a placement there and land in a village on the north-side of Hokkaido. I know JET has a lot of benefits but I feel that being in a place where I am happy is more important for such a long term plan. Now, I can only image how vast the teaching market is within Tokyo, that and I can further imagine how competitive that market is. From being there or hearing from other ALT’s/Language Teachers that with money, a Degree and a TEFL qualification would you say that it takes more than three months to find a job that could sponsor you for a work visa (November-Jan). I’m feel quite nervous about flying out there with my resumes and flying blind without knowledge of this; my other international friends said they found jobs quickly but they all had visa’s or were working under the books which I don’t plan on doing. It’s the visa/Sponsor part which I am worried about.

Also, If i was to gain sponsorship and a Job while i was there in Japan, would I have to leave to do paperwork in my own country? Thanks in advance.
