Deadly Summer Heat & Zip-Lines Yippee!!
August 31st, 2010
It is HOT in Japan right now. In fact, it’s been like this all summer. Aaron and I have been doing our best to stay cool but it’s been tough.
In this episode, Aaron and I will take you to a sports park. Come along with us as we talk the heat, teach you some Japanese words, and race on zip lines! Who won?? You’ll have to watch to find out
Kanpai,
Kevin

Its been very atsui and mushi-atsui here around the east coast of the states… But thanks for the random tour, we’re all soaking this info up hopefully! Kanpai!
すごい げんきいっぱい, Aaronくん と Kevinくん!
Yes, it has been super humid and hot in Sushiland this summer! アンビリーバボー!
Being from Seattle, like yourselves, it takes me a lot of effort to survive such heat and humidity.
The nights only cool down a few degrees, so the heat seems never ending.
I couldn`t help but chuckle at watching your “Summer Play At The Park” video, that there were no other people at that large park, except for an old man with his dog sitting in the shade. I go to fly my sports kites at a park near my home in Himeji in summer and I am usually the only person there except for traveling foreign tourists who are panting from the unrelenting heat. Japanese passing in AC cars/busses no better than that, and must think “That`s one crazy foreigner!” (クレージーがいじんですね). Maybe what the old man was thinking watching you young adults playing at the park? This summer (2010) over 300 people have died in Japan from the heat. Of course, it`s been a great summer for vending machine and beer sales in Japan.
Thanks for braving the heat and humidity to bring us an outdoor HHJ! Time for a tall cool one, eh?
Kanpai!
みなさんごめんなさい! Sorry for the error in my earlier msg where I mistakenly said, “Over 300 people have died from the heat in Japan this summer”. It wasn`t “over 300 people”, thank God! After further research I discovered that it was far less. According to government sources “heatstroke has killed 158 people since late May” in Japan.
Still a record amount of heat related deaths during a record hot summer season in Japan.
All of us in Sushiland are looking forward to cooler autumn weather!! BBQ season coming soon, we hope!
Those soups are bomb!
You guys are wusses. Sounds like a typical midwest summer to me…maybe next time you shouldn’t both wear black shirts. Glad to see you’re enjoying yourselves, though.
It is strange to see you without beer^^
I actually had to skip ahead when Aaron started looking for cicidas. They seriously freak me out. Also I second the fifth comment.
thanks for the comments everyone!
i agree we should have a good old “sit down with beers” episode soon. i’ll put it on our to-do list
Why was there nobody at the park?
@Charles
places like this sports park have been pretty deserted recently because of the heat. pretty much everyone has been staying indoor to escape the hot weather and avoid getting heat stroke.
Konnichiwa!
I’m new to your blog and am working my way through your quickstart mini-course at the moment. I really want to learn how to speak Japanese because my sister and I promised each other that we’d visit Japan together some day.
I think most places had a good summer this year. I’m from England and even we had temperatures in the 30’s which is a rarity for us!
Anyway, thanks for the blog and your video lessons, they’ve been really helpful so far.
35 degrees? Are you kidding that is nothing come to Australia and try 42.
^^Lol I’ve heard about these(photo booth thingies) before. It must be really hard to do everything while being timed.
oh woops this was supposed to be the other video. What Happens in the Purikura Booth STAYS in the Purikura Booth.
WHATTTT?!?! ziplines at kids playgrounds? they look so fancy!! at a playground near me we have an old dangerous-looking thing not worthy of being called a zipline…at the end of it it basically jerks backward and throws you off
